I assume the abandoned rusting oil tanks in the photo are from Alberta's earlier history of oil production in the 1920s or so, rather than tanks associated with current production efforts which have fallen into sudden disrepair associated with inferior materials and lack of maintenance due to the recent price decline.

I wonder how many oil production sites like this, abandoned in place, there are scattered through Alberta?
