Actually, my response is to the board here for Donald Trump and for Rosemary LaBonte. Dear Rosemary La Bonte: Thank you for that wonderful letter!. My thought------let's get Donald Trump elected and let him bring in the crew/crews to physically shore up any thing that might need repairing with the Statue of Liberty. The Statue of Liberty represents why our ancestors came to America. They came to have freedom of movement and freedom of speech to be a part of the new world-------the United States of America. Just about 30 years ago, our family went to see the Statue of Liberty not from a hotel room but actually taking the water ride to the statue and witnessing the work being done then on the statue and the island. What a special experience----to be on the same spot as our ancestors who came from England, Wales, Belgium, Spain and Germany and Scotland. Some were seafarers------some were musicians----some were servants. One had their home burnt on the Rhine River------escaping to the East Coast. Once in the USA, they were builders----. Some were stone masons in England and brought their skills with them. Some were 'bobbies' ----police men. Some were writers , educators. They came through Ellis Island------settled in New York-----Brooklyn and moved North, South , and West. They did this legally within the legal structures put in place when they came through Ellis Island. Yes, to building and defining our borders formally in all directions.
