Merry Christmas to you Chinu.

Well the good thing is, Trump is now saying out loud, what the Republican's have been thinking in their head for 40 years. So people can get a good look at that party and what it represents. And people say it's just a small portion of the Republican party that is supporting Trump. But if you add up Trump, Cruze and Carson, it comes to 67%. And all three are equally bad, in my opinion.

And it's sort of coming out at last, that Nixon started the Republican's down this road in the 70s when he and Lee Atwood, convinced the racists in the South who had been Dixiecrat's, to join the Republican Party. So the Republican Party in the 70s made a direct appeal to the racists by saying to them: "join our party and we won't enforce the Civil Rights Act of 1964 any more than we need to e.g. affirmative action, busing etc.

Now, Trump who is appealing to the worst of the human species is letting the cat out of the bag. He is saying out loud what has always been Republican policy. This is why I never had any respect for African-American Republicans. They had to know the party's foundation was built on racism.

And ,if you notice, not many Republican's are stepping up to contradict his positions. They rail against Trump, but not his positions e.g. no comprehensive immigration plan.Deport all Latino's which is nuts.

I'm glad you held the thread together Chinu you. It is the one place, where you can get the intelligent left debating the intelligent right.

Chinu, Stopping by to wish you and all here a happy & prosperous New Year. This board has a special place in my heart. We worked hard to elect Barack, who touched our minds, and our hearts, in a way no other politician of our generation had been able to do. With him it felt the choice was not "the better of two evils," but rather, the chance of my lifetime(too young for JFK/RFK) to vote for someone who was in alignment with my vision of how this country can be.

One can pick apart his tenure all day long but nobody can question the dignity & class he & Michelle brought to that White House. His sense of humor was a bonus -:)
