fire those responsible for the Java Office fiasco.

Rod, I searched the news thread and located this article which all should read or re-read. The post was here on 10/15:

exchange2000.com

Which leads to: pubsys.cmp.com

The growing Java effort, which still involved only a dozen developers, became the focus of a corporate brainstorming session. "That raised the interest of Mike Cowpland, who demoed the prototype at JavaOne," said Lin. "Cowpland blurted out that we would have WordPerfect in the suite too. That's when I found out we would have to add that in."

The entire paper is well worth reading again. If you're in a hurry drop down to the section starting: On the frontier.

You will also find that JAVA was too hot to handle for more companies than Corel. IMO it won't be ready for prime time until it's etched in silicon.

Leo
