I would think that Nikon, Cannon and the rest would be telling..

any chip maker that questioned equipment purchases...

"Ok, your concerned about the costs and you don't want to lose your position in the market... let's look at re-tooling some of the fabs with higher density equiptment that will allow you to keep up with the profit curve. Maybe holding off on further fab development for the time being is a good idea? Maybe re-tooling for a fraction of the cost makes more sense right now?"

Tulvio, thanks for the info. But I disagree that DUV will escape the trimming. That country is built on borrowed money. Their priority now is to pay off debts to keep their "good" credit history. They may do whatever is necessary (layoff, shutdown) to achieve that. So where do they get money to buy steppers?
