826K Texans have concealed carry handgun permits. They've been to training classes, furnished photos and fingerprints to the state police, and been background checked. As of yesterday, those concealed carry permits are simply carry permits ... they can carry open or concealed. I don't expect any change.

This all applies to handguns. There's never been a law against open carry of long guns.

44 other states also allow some sort of open carry.
