Meathead,

The company steve works for is about 70M in revenue so I do not understand why they would need thousands of systems. Also, he says he buys through a dealer which configures the machines for him. Is that really BTO? Maybe its CTO? But then they have been doing that for years.

Why won't he share his secrets with us? He tells us that we are wrong but he will not tell us specifically why. He just refuses to share.

Seriously, what is so humorous about this type of posturing, is that it is usually easy to beat the corporate prices of the typical MIS department. I arranged to buy 30 PC's and 2 Sun servers at prices which were 20% below the prices that my companies IS department quoted. IS got upset about it but the project managers bought the the machines anyway. It was really very simple to do. The company is a lot bigger than steve's company.

Well I am going to ski at Tahoe with family and friends and will not be doing much on this thread until after new Years

I want thank you for your contributions of fact, opinion and analysis to the thread this year. It improved the quality of the thread immensely.

Also, appreciate Gabriel's, Patrick's, Paul Reuben's contributions. The award for creative writing this year goes to Sig for his humorous and informative posts. Of course there are many other contributors and I can not name them all. But thanks for sharing your opinions and information. McNabb, and Candlestick get to join the BAD BOYS and share the award for masters of FUD.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays

Jim Kelley
