I don't believe that for a moment. It's much more valuable as a fire-fanning weapon against the other guys. Fomenting discontent is easier and more reliable than actually producing something, particularly in an arena that is complex and expensive and not amenable to easy answers. If the R's had an actual alternative laid out I might think otherwise. As we've said many times on this thread, once you put an entitlement program into place, the benefits become the new default. You can't just rip it out. There is nothing out there in this campaign to indicate that the R's aspire to be a party of governance rather than one of opposition. Criticizing is easy; delivery, not so much.
