Why would the Republican Congress oppose Donald Trump's plan to greatly reduce income tax rates on the wealthiest Americans and eliminate inheritance taxes on the wealthiest Americans?

For that matter why would they propose a plan to terminate Medicare benefits for the elderly due to the terrible government deficit created by tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans - even Social Security checks may have to be cut severely.

Trump is an outsider in that he doesn't represent the interests of the overwhelming majority of Americans

Trump is an insider in that he represents the interests of the wealthiest Americans and the most powerful Americans.

The people Trump will hurt, working Americans, have no representation in Congress and other venues of power. It's fascism.

Trump seizing privately held gold stores won't affect the wealthy or the powerful, only a handful of Americans living on the fringe - most of who could easily be prosecuted for various crimes, or the appearance of crimes.
