For the most part, Windows 10 has a high degree of compatibility with Win7 era software and peripherals, although there are exceptions.

However, for those that are interested in a new computer, all should go very well with Win10 on a new system.

The biggest potential issue buying a new computer for most people would probably be using some older printers.
