Consumed with so much hate? The pathology is all yours. Bill Buckley tried very hard for decades to purge the GOP of its whack-a-loon right wing fringe nutjobs, to discuss ideas. Rarely missed one of his fireline debates which was on PBS and public TV would have been defunded then by same right wing lunatic groups.
