You are right, I was not keeping up with supercapacitor developments. They do indeed seem to have real prospects and already are in wide use in buses [which of course have a LOT of regenerative braking opportunity due to the heavy vehicle start stop operations].

Thanks for that.

But that's a long way from cars operating only on supercapacitors, though I'll grant you that it's just a matter of making them cheaper.

//3....The amount of energy to be gained from regenerative braking [almost zero]

You sure have no experience with electric cars.

A friend of mine drives his Leaf from Bellevue, Wa up to a ski area with his family with an elevation gain of almost 3000 feet about 45 miles from his house. On the return trip back he regains about 20 miles back in his range.///

Eric, of course there are special situation such as driving in hilly country and heading straight up mountains is of course going to mean LOTS of energy wasted going back down the mountain. Don't be silly.

Re the Global Warming debate, the winner is decided not by cackling ninnies at universities but by reality and actual temperature measurements. The computer garbage in = garbage out predictions were all bung. Reality went out the bottom of their envelopes despite the science being "settled" = laughable.

No pilot licence - I gave it up 15 years ago as an expensive bit of fun for little gain. With medicals and constant updating of information [it was not automated then] and expense and less fun than I thought it would be, I decided the return on effort and expense was not worth it. My brother in law has a little tail dragger and I flew it around when he and I went up recently. He loves tootling around the country in that and a couple of Cessna 172 which a friend of his operates as a micro airline - my brother in law is Chief Pilot.
