No impact on Cymer or any other company in this sector. This sentence from the article sums up what the technology means.

But "this is only one process out of about 20 that are needed to
advance the technology overall," Gwenapp said. "It's extremely
unlikely that everything else that's needed is going to be here by then."

Wolverine, good link, but the only thing I could find is cluster ion implantation for improved doping with feature sizes of .05 mu, a long way from 20 angstron (.002 mu), which is only 4 lattice parameters.

RE: 0.02 mu Technology and Low PE of Cymi Stock

Wolverine, Thanks for your link and your question (how this impact Cymi). You bet, if this technology is a viable and feasible choice even after 4 years, Cymi's stock will have to be traded in a low PE. This is a huge cloud hanging over the head of Cymi.

But like many others, I did not find much information from the Mercury News Article. Is this technology a Ion Beam ?

Technical people on this thread need to step up the investigation a little more, and see if any can find more about this technology. We now know X-ray is not good due to mask problems, solid state laser is not good due to weakness in power, E beam is not good due to weakness and low WPH output.

How about this new technology (ion-beam) ? Is this a legitimate claim ? The articles say they may be too early that other technology may not be ready, but if this technology is good, I bet fabs will love to buy tools that can last many years without upgrade. So I would turn to think more seriously about this threat.

The key is whether this so called new technology, supported by the Japanese government, is indeed a good technology. I personally believe this kind of news is vitally important fundamental information regarding the share price of Cymi stock.

More help and comments are needed and appreciated.
