I agree with you, even soviet empire can not survive, how could MSFT.

This government thing could get very nasty before it is over with and nobody needs to have the government on their back, because the government cannot back down and they will have their way. Therefore I am steering clear of MSFT as their stock is going down because of this conflick with the US government and I would not be surprised if it goes below $100. That being said, I would also add that MSFT software is on every computer in the world and Win98 is coming out this year, so I would not be surprised to see it's stock reach $180 the second half of 98 and yes, another split. Does this reasoning sound feasible to all who read this?

I agree that MSFT went too far, they also have a bad PR problem. However it is not in anybody's interest to trash them:
- Gov. does not want to harm the premier company, it will all probably end with MSFT attaching some kind of message that user has a choice in what kind of browser he/she wants to install.
- MSFT probably does not want to revamp Win98 code (worst outcome of the case for them), but even so Win98 is insignificant. It is the last Windows version targeted toward home users. NT is MSFT future vehicle.
-

- Money manager won't trash MSFT because it will take so many of their other holdings. Besides MSFT has the ability to meet earnings every time with their reserves and conservative accounting.
Just my opinion, I actually trade SUNW all the time but as long term hold would prefer MSFT.
