my 2 cents.... Sorry for joining the discussion late--just got caught up reading all 460+ posts. - I'm looking for an online broker that can handle Canadian stock trades, without giving me the E TRADE scalp. - I was with NDB a year or more ago, but they had no idea what they were doing when it came to CDN stocks. Should I place the order in US funds, CDN funds etc. Finally got so fed up I went to E TRADE, and although E TRADE has been a nightmare, I'd have to say they were an improvement over my NDB dealings, but as I mentioned, this was some time ago so maybe NDB has improved since then. I'd venture to say that most online brokers are slowly improving and getting their acts together. - I switched to PROTRADE a while back, when they did the bait and switch, saying they could do Canadian stocks. Then after I and many other S.I. readers were there, they changed their service and dropped the CDN trades. Also, I think there is at least one individual in the customer service dept. that likes to stretch the truth.... - on the postive side of PROTRADE, I've found theme to be VERY prompt in their email customer service. Their fills are fast and I've had good luck with the prices of executions. And a biggie: they were, from what I can gather, about the only online broker that still functioned properly during the recent market drop when all other brokers were virtually OFFLINE. - With most brokers it seems they need to add 2 cents per share to CDN stocks. E TRADE does this without being forthright in their dealings....if you don't add 2 cents to your bid, (above the CDN ask), you can forget about a fill. And you've got to be absolutely stupid (I've learned the hard way) to ever place a market order there. - And one final slam for E TRADE, their customer service depart sucks. If you ask 3 questions in an email, you'll get maybe one answer. If you tell them their site is malfunctioning, you'll get back stupid answers like..."it should work". I guess the group has already decided to switch to NDB, but count me in with 3 accounts if anyone finds a new deal worth considering. This First Flushing sounds worth looking in to. HAPPY HOLIDAYS, POLARBEAR
