The installed base of Novell systems is massive and by moving to an open architecture which can leverage Java they are going to make switching to a new environment a needless expense and hassle for many companies. It's possible they could get a nice bump, but from a long-term investment POV, I don't think the future is glowing hot, especially for new installations. Now, it's likely that Corel has something up it's sleeve for Novell's Java offering and Novell's massive installed base could have an immediate impact on Corel's botom line. I agree with sentiments expressed earlier that there is something very fishy going on with Corel. They pretty much slaughtered the stock with a preannouncement and then they rub salt in the wound by announcing there won't be any cutbacks. The question raised was whether that was deliberate.
