I do think part of issue here is that the last flash crash scared people and some think the machines are in charge. Two mini-melts back to back and all. The counter to that is that the lows in 2008/2009 were somewhat separated. This is just more of the same and the algos had to wait for corp buybacks to halt to attack. Mkt structure is very broken here. With this structure, things could crack 20% in a day. There is a reason we had humans in the loop and uptick rules. The SEC is asleep.
