Yup,

Carl Mears, Vice President and Senior Research Scientist at RSS believes that surface temperature measurements are more reliable than satellite measurements.

they certainly agree with each other better than the various satellite datasets do!).

Maybe that's because they have homogenization programs on the surface datasets? If you adjust temperatures to match others they'll have more agreement.
