Zenith has a great story to tell but no one in Glenview is getting the message out. The Chicago Tribune article was enough to scare every nervous long to sell. Why wasn't there any mention in the article that:

1. Zenith will earn (during the next decade) hundreds of millions in royalties from all TVs, PCs and STBs which can receive and display the new TV digital standards (ATSC/VSBi) as adopted by the FCC. HDTV at 1080 lines of vertical resolution is just one of several VSBi standards to be employed. The only exceptions are progressive-scan transmissions which appear highly unlikely to be employed.

2. Zenith will be the first out of the gate to sell HDTV projection units and has the early exclusive distribution rights to Divx. Both should be huge cash generators to Zenith in 1998.

3. One billion dollar plus STB contract with Americast under way.

4. Several hundred million dollar STB contract with News Corp subsidiary.

5. 21st Century cable modem contract, etc., etc.. (you know the rest).

It's been a long, rough road. My read is that our patience will be well rewarded within the fortnight at the CES.
