WRITE TEAM: Global warming? It's real Karina Delgado Updated 11 hrs ago The TimesThe one thing that gets on my nerves about Illinois weather is the fact that when I come back to school from a long so called “winter” break, all the sudden it actually gets cold. It’s annoying. You wake up early in the cold, which will result from not wanting to get out of bed and then you realize that you have to get out of bed because you have to start up your car 10 minutes before you actually leave, or else you could get yourself into some serious issues with you and your car. It can ruin your morning due to the whole process — waking up cold and now you have to go out in the cold early just to go into something even more cold just so you can be somewhat warm. Nope. Not on my watch. As much as I would love to complain about the cold and talk about how I've been loving this warm winter, it makes me feel guilty, due to the fact that, global warming is the cause of this 40-degree winter wonderland. That's right folks, global warming is real. Let me write it all over the walls of town, because the earth is getting warmer each year. It’s a real thing. I can't stress that out enough. I can't believe I live in a world where the people in charge of running the country I live inhave incredible excuses and are unable to try to make a change about the planet they live on. But you know, they don't mind because somehow they convince other fellow citizens that this climate change isn't real and that it's a hoax so they can spend money somewhere. Yes, I just went there, because this is outrageous. France already is on its way to reducing global warming by cutting back/eliminating the use of coal and gas energy. They're ahead of the game, and here we are sitting on our couches and gasping at the news that it's going to be much warmer than we expected. Yes, I have noticed that the cold is finally here, but it was delayed for sure. My freshman year I had almost five snow days, I remember making the biggest snowman that I could make with my siblings. Now? There hasn't been any snow days, and the snow scenery is the most depressing thing that my siblings and I ever had experienced. You might be thinking what could we do to stop it? That is all on you; what could you do to stop it? You and I live both live on this beautiful planet for some reason but I believe that destroying it cannot be one of the reasons. Research, research, research, that's why teachers drilled it into our heads. Researching can come in long ways. Another way to have this hopefully have progress to be made is the election of 2016. Although I'm too young to vote, I am hoping there are people out there who could chose a candidate that cares on the soil we live in and other social issues as well but the earth could need some help. I don't know about you, but I sure wouldn't want to end up like the movie "Wall-E."KARINA DELGADO, of Ottawa, is a student at Ottawa Township High School. mywebtimes.com
