All ski areas make snow....it extends the season, covers bare spots, helps operate more trails, etc....

Why would they make snow?

Not to sell snow cones. When your ignorance is so astounding, you should avoid the subject.

It actually changes the snow pattern and amount future snow on the mountain, including cloud formations.
Light (heat) is reflected back up.
Less likely to melt or have dark brown burn-thru's that will melt faster (on bumps).
Grooming benefits.
Replaces melt at high traffic areas...i.e thousands of skiers shuffling in the exact same spot to get on lifts.
Bragging rights for earliest opening
Bragging rights to stay open later.
To irritate liberals

Not all resorts can use the water for snow making, especially after droughts.
