Stephen: Don't read much into todays market action as this being a short post X'mas trading day and all. We will have to wait till January to get a clear indication of the market, I would think.

Stephen, I watched cpq trade for a few minutes and from the size of the trades it definitely looks like small investors are doing all the buying and selling -- mostly 100 share blocks with the largest I saw being 5000 shares. Intel's up a fraction today. That dog 3 com just keeps on going, of course, it's down from 58 to 33 and change but then cpq is down even more and it can't get out of its own way. I have to believe that heavy manipulation is going on relative to cpq. Think the MM's want the price to go so low they can insure double digit profits in '98 when cpq continues to bring in good earnings.

I feel your pain !! With CPQ going Ex-Div. next week I felt we would be seeing a bounce up to 60 by Jan. 1. Looks very doubtful at this point.
