RE: Pace of Driving Innovations Toward Electric and Self-Driving Car Autonomy I gave myself a lot of leeway with a few centuries, however many factors are involved in how innovations evolve and are implemented. :) In my previous post, I thought to include some of the issues involved toward driverless driving, but instead made a simplistic assertion that future transportation will eventually change radically. Everything in your video will come to pass, however different issues will evolve and be solved on different time-lines before transportation becomes 99% autonomous and electric. These are some different aspects that will have to be solved and merged. Developing the Technology and this is the easiest step. Establishing the infrastructure for electric vehicle recharging. Gaining public acceptance of fully electric and autonomous transportation. Dealing with Pre-Era vehicles and their use and where they are used. Dealing with the last factor of the previous list, here are some more issues. Where and how will old vehicles be allowed to operate. Ownership and use of old vehicles by collectors. Use of old vehicles in film and cinema making movies. Licensing and registration of old vehicles and requirements for their use. After all of this being said, I remember an elderly gentleman from high-school that taught a science class that I had who that liked to tell the story of the first time he ever say a car. And, if we could get him talking about it, he would waste half the class-period. <g> BTW, everyone liked Mr. Jackson. :) However, without a doubt our children today will use transportation quite different from today when they are old.
