<The Offense has it's fun and nobody wants an Injury>... aside from that, the game has been a total joke for as long as I can remember and has been getting worse every year...

Let's see, how many players actually "voted" to the pro bowl actually end up playing in it? Well, none of the players from the two SB teams -- often teams with players selected for the pro bowl -- because they're getting ready for the most important (well, in theory) game of the season... more and more frequently, players who played in the Conf. Championships (again, teams usually with players selected) the previous week also decline -- the winners are going the SB (see above) and the losers are exhausted and beat up and not feeling much like working out and playing yet another game for virtually no reward... throw in misc. reasons for other players and you end up with the 3rd and 4th alternates at many key positions...

Rivers was 4th alternate at QB and declined to play when asked because, well, he's still trying to figure out where he's going to be "working" next season -- not to mention he's a bit beat up himself after going through 12 different OLs this past season and finding himself on his back on the field watching a bunch of Tweety Birds circle his head...

And then the game itself -- as you mentioned, nobody wants to get hurt and the offenses are showboating as bad as an NBA All Star game where defense never makes an appearance on the court.

I'd "bet" that it's easier to win on the roulette wheel in Vegas than to make any sort of informed bet on the Pro Bowl... assuming it isn't rigged... <ggg>
