Almond orchards actually consume 10% of the water used in California, and these California fields supposedly make up 82% of all of the almonds consumed world wide.

The largest almond farmers in the world are Lynda and Stewart Resnick shown below, seated in their Bel Air farm house.

The illegal methods the Resnicks have used to take control of taxpayer-funded water districts don't bear close scrutiny. Neither inherited any almond trees, nor have either of them ever grown a vegetable garden.

You can easily find written accounts of their abusive and lawless actions, but they're not in prison because they're very generous political donors to who ever is in office, regardless of party.
