It says that because your 6x86-200 is really running at a clockspeed of 150Mhz. Due to the effiecient design of the chip...it will outrun a Pentium 200Mhz while running at only 150Mhz.
Benchmarks?...well they are only as good as the benchmark. <G>
Real world performance is what counts as well as the computer being the summ of it's collective parts rather than just benchmarking a cpu with a program that hits the highlights of a particular chip.

I answered my own question. I changed setting in CMOS. Thanks anyway. Norton shows CPU now running at 171Mhz, nearly 3 times faster than benchmark for 133Mhz chip.

Greg,
Your system is probably not stripped clean except the OS . I am using a MX233 and all I get is 74.7 or so. I also have alot of things on my system that degrade performance. My mother's MX166 scores around 61. You can't trust benchmarks solely.

All,

I'm back (lucky you).. sorry I've been busy with other things, lost the link to here and had to find it again (with the new daughter it was low on the priority list).

Greg:.. You should check your setup on your 6x86mx. Mine is running at PR233 and gets a 70 on norton si. 57 doesn't sound right to me.

Also you chip IS running at 150MHZ, but performs like a 200MHZ Pentium w/ MMX. That's what the PR means..

As for something identifying it as a 5x86 that's because some programs have awful CPU identification algorythms that need to be updated badly.

Steve

Greg, I have the same chip running at 66 mhz x 2.5 Norton 3.0 shows "CyrixInstead 6x86MX 167 MHz". Speed shows as 58.5.

Regards,
John.
