I've heard more racist comments in New York then in VA or on my trips to other southern states (NC, GA, FL, AL, and maybe you can count TX, KY, and MO) . Some of that could be because it was further in the past and there was more racism in general back in the 70s and 80s then there is now, but I really don't see such a stark devided with the south so much more racist then the north.
