Brian, Here is an observation. Earlier this year when IBM announced it would use the K^-6 AMD stock poped up five bucks on the news. When Compaq announced or didn't announce use of the K^-6 the stock actualy went down a couple of points. Compaq potentialy could be a bigger buyer than IBM just from market share. Can anyone else out there feel the compression in AMD stock price? Or am I the only one!

Ban, A preceptible chagne has occured affecting most of the componet parts suppliers for parts to boxmakers, to the benifit of the boxmakers. Suppliers including Intel have lost control of pricing as monentum has somehow shifted to the boxmakers...Is this trend permanent? Have Corporations come to conculsion that technology updating and maintaince is too costly to continue without rethinking the efects on is't own ability to remain competive in the global inviorment? Is the explosion of the sub $1,000.00 market responsible for driving force on price cutting of componets at the expense of earnings for the sake of maintaining or even gaining market share? Something is wrong out there. I'd like to get everyone opionion on these questions. Lets see if we can't get a good Pow-Wow going on this from everybody out there what are you hearing what have you experienced in your recent vists to local computer shop. Is something fundementialy wrong out there? Here is some food for thought on the subject.
businessweek.com Right now it is unusualy silent out there. you can almost cut throught the silence with a dull butterknife!
