It depends. Up until Nixon, a core Republican principle was to govern justly. With Nixon that started to change. Slowly, but with growing velocity, winning became more and more important. Now, winning at all costs has become the only principle they have left. To the point that most seem befuddled when they actually win an election. Like the dog that manages to finally catch a bus, now what?
