The problem with AAPL was a big chunk of the cash is in "marketable securities" under noncurrent assets. Between repatriation and the liquidity of these assets (I wonder what exactly the overseas commercial paper consists of for instance) I think that designation has real significance. But they appear to still be using said assets as collateral for US loans.

The more I think about it the more the composition of that portfolio starts to bother me..
