Re: i wonder why they charge for their services....
Joel, just because I or somebody wasn't aware of a new tax law doesn't mean that one shouldn't be in business or charge for services.
.
The GovernmentS pass THOUSANDS of laws. Ever WEEK new laws are passed. Anyone who kept up on every law remotely connect to his field is likely someone I wouldn't want to hire any way.
.
As to the law you mentioned, while it SOUNDS legit from the author's credentials and quotes from his BARRON'S story, it is something that I'd venture to say that 99.99% of ALL CPAs will NEVER in their CAREERS, EVER have a situation develop where they might use it.
.
I use 99.99% based on several years of personal discussions with CPAs, EAs and Tax Attorneys who haven't any idea how to accurately explain the technical differences among INVESTOR, DEALER and TRADER. They have no need to know for their clientele.
.
Off my soapbox for now (g)
