JL: I'm pleased to see that Maxam has continued to stake new ground. If a DD company feels it has an economic recovery process, the first and most important task is to stake as much viable property as reasonably possible - there's no such thing as having too much PM-bearing ore (provided you have the funds to pay for the claims, of course). When the party starts, you can always do JVs and other deals to develop these properties.It may cost many thousands of dollars of stake and maintain claims, but the payoff could be in the millions while someone else does all the work for you.
