Bulba,

Without naming the person, would you tell us how much the biggest loser has lost? My charity portfolio makes me feel better about the real one. The best of SI losing 14% makes my real losses more tolerable, but I need to push my pain threshold further each week.

Ashley

2/12/16 Contest update
Billions of dollars to prove Einstein was right about gravity waves but not a penny to pull my biotech stocks out of their black hole. Unfair!
Meanwhile, despite an encouraging chirp Friday, biotechs had another losing week. At Friday’s close, the Contest median was down -32.80% YTD (vs. down -30.08% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -25.84% YTD (vs. down -24.32% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -32.90% YTD (vs. down -31.13% a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed down -13.38% YTD (vs. down -12.87% YTD a week ago).
DNAJOE’s portfolio now holds the Contest lead although it shows a -19.08% YTD loss. Oy vey! JBOG’s portfolio, down -22.03% YTD, is in second place and DODGY’s portfolio, down -23.79% YTD, is in third place.
At Friday's close, all 58 Contest portfolios remained in the red, with just 7 beating the NBI and 30 beating the SPSIBI. The 224 Contest stock picks have an average YTD loss of -31.15% and a median YTD loss of -32.6%. A mere 7 of the 224 Contest portfolio stocks are up for the year.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost.
Portfolio adjustments: POZN symbol change to ARLZ after merger with Tribute Pharmaceuticals.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy the long Valentine’s & President’s Day weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
