I believe the following study is what those on this thread are looking for. Using my TC2000 chart
program, I try to keep up with some upgrades. The following study is from
upgrades to STRONG BUY by various institutions, going back to 10-29 to present........

SYM Date of upgrade Issuer Closing Price x trading 12/26/97 %
day of upgrade days later close Change

Cell 10/29/97 UBS securities $15.07 40 $13.94 -4.02%
Ipec 10/29/97 Van Kasper $23.88 40 $15.13 -36.6%
Nsm 10/29/97 Cowen&Co $35.69 40 $25.69 -28.0%
* Aa 10/29/97 Morgan Stanley $71.44 40 $68.50 -4.1%
* Slot 10/23/97 Morgan Stanley $83.00 44 $55.25 -33.4%
Klic 10/31/97 Joseph Lyons $25.75 38 $17.88 -30.56%
*TXN 10/31/97 Gruntal $50.91 38 $44.81 -11.4%
NB 11/03/97 Alex Brown $61.94 37 $59.56 -3.84%
*WY 11/04/97 Salomon Bros $49.06 36 $48.13 -1.8%
CSCO 11/05/97 Hambrecht&quist $56.99 35 $53.19 -6.60%
*TALK 11/07/97 Smith Barney $21.75 33 $20.88 -.04%
BA 11/17/97 Gruntal $49.69 27 $47.81 -4.02%
TAN 11/19 Merril Lynch $43.81 25 $35.63 -18.6%

* AA was down to $61.06 (-14.5%) after 22 trading days
* Slot was down to $43.50 (-47.5%) after 35 trading days
* TXN was down to $42.50 (-16.5%) after 30 trading days
* WY was down as low as $46.63 (-5.2%) after 32 traing days
*Talk was down to $17.50 (-19.5%) after 28 trading days

Can it be concluded that Shorting Strong Buy Recommendations after they are issued,
then closing the position somewhere between 20 and 40 trading days would be profitable ?

Last post did not come out the way I intended for it to.
I will send the file to anyone requesting it.
I used MS works and it did not fit correctly onto the clipbooard
when I tried to paste it.
Table in file clearly shows a nice percentage drop between 20
and 40 days AFTER a STRONG BUY recommendation is issued !
Is this coincidence or does it prove that analysts have a
hidden agenda and want to be able to get these stocks for their big shot clients at a lean discount ?

Again, I will send the file to all those requesting it......
