The constitution requires the president be a "natural born US citizen". Cruz was born in Canada. McCain was confirmed as a "natural born citizen" by unanimous consent of the Senate. The resolution recognized the military service of his parents when he was born in Panama was the reason for the consent. What year was it that Cruz renounced his claim to Canadian citizenship? I don't believe his mom (the one parent who was a US citizen) was serving on a U.S. base on Calgary at the time. It wasn't like it even was a vacation.
