Since the objects are distributed the functionality of the system seems heavily dependent on the network working 100% what are the redundancy requirements for such a system?

Concerning Java do not sell Billy boy short he hasn't been sucking his thumb. Remember this is the guy who was poo pooing the web while planning how to exploit it. Now everyone thinks he has taken the web over - or at least everyone in the DOJ and NSCP.

The software is truly a radical departure, a bona fide pardigm shift from current software norms.

NC is just another name for a diskless workstation, and those have been around for at least ten years.
