Concealed Carrier Thwarts Possible Mass Shooting in NOLAPosted by Bob Owens on February 5, 2016 at 5:50 pm

Richard Macklin, a Democratic convicted felon with a gun, whipped it out and started firing into a group of ATV riders in New Orleans on Sunday. He was’t prepared for one of the other riders in the group to pull a licensed concealed weapon and return fire.

Police said the melee started about 3:30 p.m. at the Claiborne Express station just off Esplanade Avenue. Macklin, who was driving a white Volvo, arrived at the gas station at the same time as a large group of men riding ATVs.

Macklin became “enraged” during an argument, according to an arrest report, and shot three of the men, ages 30, 31 and 32. Then one of the ATV riders, whom police have not named, pulled out a legally owned weapon and shot back.

Police said they arrested three other men — Jerome Richards, 25; Corey Berry, 20; and Charles Simon, 27 — when they fled the scene on ATVs. After a chase, all three were booked with reckless operation of a vehicle, police said.

None of the ATV riders who were shot were booked.

Police Superintendent Michael Harrison said Sunday that none of the men’s wounds are life-threatening.

Police said in the arrest report that statements from victims and witnesses made it “evident” that Macklin was the aggressor and responsible for the shooting.

Friedman, the magistrate commissioner, found probable cause in relation to the shooting for the three counts of attempted second-degree murder as well as illegal use of a weapon, illegal carrying of a weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Macklin was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Texas in 2009, according to court records, and also has previous convictions in New Orleans for domestic abuse, battery and violations of a protective order.

What's your favorite thing about Clinton?

Failing to pass universal health care? Making Iraqi regime change a national policy? Reforming welfare? Deciding not to send the Kyoto treaty to the Senate? NAFTA? Royalty relief for deepwater GOM drillers?

Man Robs Store With Fake Gun, Gets Shot By Clerk’s Real OnePosted by Bob Owens on February 8, 2016 at 12:01 pm

It’s tough to improve on that headline, isn’t it?

Convicted felon Jarrell Blackmon pulled a fake gun in his attempt to rob a Pensacola, Florida convenience store. It was real enough that the clerk thought it was a credible threat, and fired a shot through Blackmon’s neck.

The morning didn’t go too well for a man who decided to use a fake gun to rob a store and was shot in the neck by a store clerk before he fled the business.

The incident occurred around 2:25 a.m. at the Beacon Store, 1101 W. Cervantes Street. A store clerk told police he shot the suspect during the robbery. The clerk – Abed Alslaq, 20, of Pensacola – said the Democratic suspect entered the store wearing camouflage, a hat and a bandana over his face. The clerk said he told the suspect to remove the bandana but he refused. During the robbery, the suspect went behind the counter, pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the clerk, who believed it was real.

The armed robber managed to get some cash and 10 cartons of cigarettes before he fled the business. The suspect – Jarell Blackmon, 24, of the 7900 block of Beaber Road, Pensacola – was later seen in the area of E and Gadsden streets by Officer Matthew Mercado. Blackmon, who was bleeding from his neck, fled from Mercado despite being ordered to stop.

Officers set up a perimeter and Officer Patrick Kelly and his K-9 did a track. Blackmon was found hiding in the 600 block of North E Street. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound that entered and exited his neck.

Blackmon faces a number of felony charges in relation to the crime, and was stupid enough to tell the police that the gun he used in the crime “wasn’t real,” which is both utterly irrelevant from a legal perspective and a confession to armed robbery.

He’s clearly not the brightest bulb in the chandelier, and we hope that the prosecutor puts him in prison for as long as florida laws allow.

Alslaq has not been charged for shooting Blackmon, and it is doubtful that he will face charges.

"Ted Cruz. Cruz outperformed expectations in New Hampshire. He spent less than a million dollars in advertising in the state for the same performance as Jeb!, who spent $35 million. Cruz is the only real rival to Trump in South Carolina, and he has the ground game and data machine for a long run. The establishment may be forced to choose between Cruz and Trump – and there’s a significant possibility they choose Trump."
