There are so many wrong headed ideas in medicine that you can't shake a stick at them. Seventy years ago Cardiologists were opening chests and sprinkling talcum powder on hearts to cure heart disease. The list goes on and on. The big difference today is that the Net allows everybody to post an opinion.

Since nothing works for everybody, they all can't point to people who were helped by their POV. When you add to that the fact that placebos work for lots of people, it's even more difficult to figure out the "truth."

That is why I have adopted the attitude of "live and let live" toward various POV's.

Carbs, sugar and the resultant overweight will kill you. If you are the one in a thousand that doesn't get fat from a stupid diet, lucky you. If someone wants to commit suicide on a bad diet, I would try to talk them out of it but what can you do after that...
