They've only been taken private once. But times change, and now STX's business is under seige by SSDs. I don't think that they will go private again. Personally, I think a merger with Micron is more likely than that (not that I am predicting this). They need to do what WDC did--get their own supply of NAND--to survive.

I know it was taken private at least once.

dipped below 11.00 ( low of 10.18) in sept 2011.

Back then just began paying a dividend of 18 cents vs current 63.

Somewhere a dividend helps support price assuming it is continued.

I think we're getting close.

Just sold some Sept brks 10's for 2.00.net price of 8.00 and a dividend yield of 5.0%.

No debt and 65 million in the bank with a nice growing order bank for semiconductors and life sciences that I think is a great long term stable company with good margins.

Hope it pays me 5% for years.

I'm OK with that, brks at $8.00 - book value of 9.44.
