The article specifically mentions government incentives as part of the reason why solar energy has reached "grid parity."

....My sister who can only work three days a week (health) is not at all well off. She is having Solar installed on her roof. With the subsidies, it's cheaper than the grid. Would never have considered it otherwise. Everybody is doing it in Jersey........must be costing taxpayers billions...
