That's the goal here, too, and not just with public lands. Privatize schools, prisons, SS, roads...

They said they could go to some of them, if they could afford it - they were mostly for the wealthy.

And that is they way it should be. It maximizes the value of the land without the inefficiencies of having government intrusion on its utilization. If you cannot afford the true value of it, why should you have use of it?

I Sweden you can go anywhere and in case that some of the area shares borders with privately owned land, by law ("Allemansrätten", google on it if you don't trust me) anybody can put down his tent right there on that privately owned piece of land - as long as he shows consideration and does not disturb the owner in his home nearby...

Germany is different, yes. But who want's to go there - except for the 1million/year new 'immigrants' from Africa and the Middle East?
