IIRC, Judge Robert Bork had been previously approved by the Senate for another post, yet the Democrats had no concern about borking him.

In fact, I would bet that a large proportion of those rejected for the Supreme Court have undergone successful nominations previously.

The same argument applies to Loretta Lynch, our current AG.
