Iraq to resume oil sales within one week. I hope this is not my christmas present beccause I want to take it back - Hope oil can hold $18 or we are all in for a little trouble I think - even though I know there is no legitamate link between the two.

John;

OFF TOPIC...to some, others might see connection...

I'm two people...The Day Guy fixes ferry boat engines and other such
mechanical equipment up near Seattle, and, having spent most of his
life fishing or doing other 'hands-on' marine stuff, appreciates a
good Sea Story with the best of 'em. Your above example is an A+,
investment-grade example of the genre.
The Night Guy realizes that The D. Guy's physical labors are getting
harder and harder to pull off gracefully, and that a less demanding
pursuit will soon be a great boon to his ability to move around and
function in all three dimensions. So he's learning what he can about
self-guided investing in US common equities.
'Immersion' is the learning method that works best on my tired,
worn-out, youth-abused brain cells. And that immersion includes a
lot more than ratio analyses and study of financial information.

Thanks again for the 'dunking-in-lore' that your tale and it's
explanatory sequel gave me.

Lee (Long this sector, unto pain)

John, fascinating post! Makes me wonder just how much the "rig count" figures actually mean.
