If you use the Search tools, 'Advanced search', select Value Investing board and search the key word 'KMI', you will see the posts I made about NG infrastructure value buys and why I bought KMI and continue to be positive on the investment.

It's my No. 3 holding and I plan to hold past 2020 as this was my initial time frame when I see the Natural Gas transition (from coal) infrastructure to be in place. Specifically KMI (& WMB) will operate and/or deliver domestic U.S. NG to at least two new LNG export terminals they are building.

I did spread my bets across several companies but KMI and WMB were/are my largest bets. ATO, GAS, CNP & SE are others but those have somewhat of a moat to their business since they have one or more divisions that are regulated and prices and competitors are fixed. FWIW GAS was acquired and ATO is at an all time high.

The sector (NG: pipeline, Midstream gathering, processing) is still attractive w/ many hidden values. The other thing is there will be more consolidations as the infrastructure is built, processing and delivery capacity expands and worldwide distribution (of NG from US) grows for almost zero to over 10% of demand (Asia and India).

Keep watching Buffet's Buys into this space specifically if he finds some sort of NG export play. He likes undervalued companies w/ 'milk runs', where there is growing repeat business. I am building a position in the delivery of compressed natural gas (LNG) via specialized leased shipping containers delivered to customers in India and other remote 3rd world countries. KMI and/or WMB pipes will touch all the domestic U.S. NG exported to these countries. They generate a fee each time NG moves through their pipes. Just like a toll road.

Not sure if its any consolation to KMI owners here but Warren loaded up in Q4/15.

The KMI buy was only $400 Million. I doubt this was Buffett, more likely one of the two investment managers (or both).
