Volume indicates there wasn't any buying slack today compared to the last 3 months average. If Apple had been aggressively buying today, it would have shown up as higher than average volume rather than the lower than average volume it actually was.

I Believe AAPL was in there since earnings

However, I believe we've had a lot of large players bottom fishing here. Buy programs, as you say. But Everything has sold off. Oil, for now, is giving us the "all clear". AAPL has been dead money but everyone sees the April catalyst: the capital return call. Further confirmed by the bond sell. (maybe some interest in the March Launch or Launch Junior)

There are 2 really big catalysts each year. iPhone and Capital return. We're looking at #2

Unfortunately, a lot of the time we've had crises happening around these events so that their impact has been muted. This time, the market pendulum and the AAPL pendulum seem to be in sync.

(my bad--been enjoying the run. I put on big hedge mid/late morning today to lock in my gains and got bit. missed about $1 in gains and got hurt on the hedges. left them on. Too many dummies in the world. someone's going to say something stupid and tank the market)
