Zebra: Good to see you back here. The only thing incorrect about your prevous post was the statement "I won't address this subject again." LOL.

Ron: I made the mistake myself of trying to engage this tooth thing in some sort of rational discussion. It's not worth the effort.

Farmer Jones was getting tired of having his watermelons stolen from his patch by the highway. So in a flash of inspiration he put up a sign,"WARNING!! ONE OF THE MELONS IN THIS PATCH HAS BEEN INJECTED WITH DEADLY CYANIDE!!"

Sure enough, a week went by and not a single melon was missing. Farmer Jones was pretty pleased with himself, til the morning he looked out and saw a second sign that read in a hasty scrawl, "NOW THERE ARE TWO!!"

That is my answer to those who would say, Y2K is not important in embedded systems because 98% of the chips are not date dependent. If you are in line production it does you no good to be 98% operational, unless you have a large warehouse capacity for partly finished product. Which is precisely what "just in time" manufacturing is all about, no warehousing. Hmmm, that might be a collateral Y2K play. Leasing warehouse space in the year 2000 to those manufacturers who thought they did not have a Y2K problem because so few of their chips were date-dependent.

I've never laid an egg, but I'm a better judge of an omlet than any chicken!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!
