It's not uncommon for prosecutors and defense attorneys that trade heavy blows "on duty" to be friends outside the courtroom. They don't take their advocacy personally. They define themselves more broadly.

Plenty of personal assholes right and left, and nice folks who have reptilian politics. We have to get past this. It is better that Scalia respected and liked Ruth Bader Ginsburg, than if he merely shunned her and all who disagreed with him.

There is little doubt in my mind that Scalia spun originalism to meet his political bias, not vice versa; but I would not have minded knowing him, and seeing what made him tick. Why he was the way he was. Bush43, too. Dick Cheney? I would not want any part of that NEO NAZI war criminal bastard. Even I have my limits of civility.

How about the marriage of James Carville and Mary Matalin?? Even love is weird. Probably made for some heat when they were courting. Can you imagine their sex talk?? I can, but this is a family friendly forum. Would make a great comedy bit - its probably been done.

Clinton and Nixon had a warm relationship. cbsnews.com

Hoover and Truman, too. trumanlibrary.org
