Yeah, you're right. Since, if we are going into a bear market, the top would have been August '97, going out to DEC 98 gives a 16-month duration- -about average.

Bill, the words on the cover of Barron's say it all for me: MIXED SIGNALS.

As for our little contest. I propose requiring a Dow high, low, and close for 1998, and giving the BK trophy for the smallest "sum of squared differences" from the true values. That squaring thing ought to put the real loonies at a real disadvantage! :-)

I'm no good at organizing or archiving things, but will gladly run the numbers to determine the winner a year from now. Do we have a volunteer for thread archivist?
