Eric,
wars end as do their costs, social programs in the USA are unstoppable and grow forever.
According to Bernie Sanders (and Hillary Clinton version 12.1), social programs in the USA are actually good for the economy. Cause you know, a strong middle class forms the foundation of a strong, healthy economy.

Hard to argue against that logic until you look at the results of every single socialist society out there. "Share the wealth" instead becomes "spread the misery."

And the rich keep on getting richer, except they now have the benefit of a strong, centralized government to preserve the status quo.

I understood what you were saying.

You were saying we should just go in there and FLATTEN every city that has a large number of ISIS.

Also, you're saying we should just go in and TAKE any oil field that ISIS could possibly get control of and just keep it to pay for our expenditures.

To some degree I agree with you. The Russians bomb a hospital or school in Syria and everybody complains but the Russians just say, "No we didn't". And that's pretty much the end of it.

The Russians sent anti-aircraft missiles into Ukraine and shot down a commercial airliner and everybody complained about it yet the Russians said, "No we didn't". And that was pretty much the end of that.

It's been like that since about 1943 when Hitler invaded Russia and people said we shouldn't help the Russians because they had been allies of Hitler up until then. The Russians said, "No we weren't".

In 1943 it was strategic and O.K. to let the Russians slide because we NEEDED them against the Germans.

When it came to 1945 we should have said, "We didn't mean the Yalta agreement"

We should have SMASHED the Russians when we had the chance.

Even back then the politicians were more worried about their next election than they were about the future of the U.S.
