HI Investor2; Printer took some tweaking..but I like it !
got the 5s scanner also, getting them both gives me the
$170 rebate..( ends this month) makes the scanner cost
$29. :-)
Does a good job on color photos, but to print them right
you need to use the special photo paper, it must have a coating
on it. You can use regular paper for regular jobs.
Printer comes with a photo cartridge, as well as color and
Black..nice set up for $298 net..and the OCR !
Years ago I tried OCR and it was a mess..but they have sure
improved that..scan in a regular page..hit a button..and
into Word in a flash..with only a few mistakes. Huge improvment
my wife loves the OCR part. She can bring home hard copy stuff
from work, were they don't have it on disk, and that they need
to changed or make it into a Doc file..scan it in click click;
correct a few mistakes and presto.
But it did take some tweaking to get it all running right,
you need to have better than average set up skills.
I put in the wrong editor for the OCR and it would not
give me a chance to change it. So I hunted down the .ini
file and edited it to reflect the right one, rebooted and
it worked fine.
Also I seldom pay mind to the "close other programs" message
when running a set up. Now I know why they want you to do
that ! Win95 bloatware can get things mixed up real easy
if you have open programs during set-up.
It scambled some files and I had to unistall and re-install
thanks to that. But it's all cooking now and I do Like it.
